How Much Does Teeth Whitening Cost? – Doing it Cheaply

how much does teeth whitening cost

Hi, it’s Chelsea back again and today I will be talking about a topic that I get asked about all of the time.

This topic really strikes a bad chord with me, and I am not even going to get into how much money I have spent on trying to whiten and keep my teeth white.

With people out of jobs, and pay wages having become quite stagnant for a while now, it can be tough to come up with extra cash to get those pearly whites you are dreaming of.

BUT, it does not have to be that way, because you can do the same thing thousands of others have done, and that is whiten your teeth at home for pennies (I will share with you in a little bit).

Whether you are looking to whiten your teeth at your dentists office, with teeth whitening strips, trays, or naturally at home, knowing how much you are going to need to spend is important.

So lets tackle the big pocket grabbing question that is how much does it cost to whiten teeth?

First off, do you think you are the only one who has to live with the social consequences of bad teeth?

You really are not alone! Don’t believe me? Here are some stats that will convince you:

  • A new research found out that at least 70% of its subjects say that bad teeth have affected their lives.
  • Another 5.4 million people have said that they try to hide their smile, or even avoid smiling altogether.
  • Bad teeth is making 2.1 million Americans feel depressed, and stops 200,000 people from leaving their homes.
  • 10% Americans do not speak as much as they will like to. And finally,
  • 1 million Americans suffering from bad teeth say that their affliction has affected their love life negatively.

Which of these scenarios do you think you fit in?

As you can see, there are plenty of other people who are in the same boat as you.

Now, you no doubt will be wondering just how much does teeth whitening cost?

After all, that is what will determine which options you can go for!

The good news is that despite the apparent seriousness of your problem, you can whiten your teeth and lead a perfectly normal life!

The even better news is that those exceedingly expensive dental options are not the only one that can help you out.

So how much is teeth whitening? Well here’s a breakdown of the some of the options that you have.

How Much Does Professional Teeth Whitening Cost?a lot of money

Good question, after all, you will like a permanent solution to your problem and this is after all your life that we are talking about, can’t leave anything to chance.

So, professional teeth whitening procedures make perfect sense right? Well, yes and no.

Teeth whitening done at clinics comes in two varieties – bleaching and cleaning.

Bleaching is also sometimes called power whitening and is referred to the process when your teeth are whitened beyond their natural color.

This is done by using gel based products that contain a bleaching agent, such as hydrogen peroxide, or carbamide peroxide.

Once the gel is applied, it permeates within your teeth’s enamel and effects the discolored molecules by releasing oxygen which lightens the teeth.

Now teeth whitening on the other hand generally refer to cleaning operations that are done to release debris that has accumulated on your teeth.

Basically anything that can help you to accomplish this will help, including toothpastes that have mild whitening agents in them.

While such procedures are no doubt helpful, and can yield satisfying results, the number one problem with them is that they are rather expensive.

A single sitting may cost over 600 dollars, and bleaching procedures can go on for 6 months to over 1 year the final price tag for your white teeth can easily be in thousands of dollars.

If you do not want to go to a dentist office for a professional whitening, you can go with a professional grade teeth whitening kit to use at home.

Laser Teeth Whitening Cost

Laser teeth whitening is another method that is fast gaining popularity and is no doubt a quick workaround to regular treatments.

In this, a hydrogen peroxide solution is applied to your teeth, and then a beam of laser light is shone upon it which causes it to start breaking up fast, leading to quicker oxygen release.

Many clinics claim that a single treatment, that can go on from 15 minutes to an hour can improve your teeth whiteness by as much as 11 shades.

However this remains to be proven.

In fact a recent study by the British Dental Journal found out that many of the claims made by such clinics have been greatly exaggerated, and do not live up to the hype.

When we start talking of lasers, cost no doubt comes to mind, after all, most laser based treatments are expensive and this one is no different.

In fact laser teeth whitening tends to be towards the higher end of the spectrum as far as professional teeth whitening goes.

While the cost of whitening will depend on which dentist you choose to work with and how badly discolored your teeth really are, you can expect to pay at least 1000 dollars for a single sitting, give or take.

Natural Teeth Whitening Methods

While financial considerations and carcinogens being plastered to your teeth are no doubt a concern (yes, hydrogen peroxide is a known carcinogen, and may god help you if you swallow it!), the biggest problem with such methods is that they simply do not last.teeth whitening costs before and after

Since they are intended to target the symptoms caused by bad dental hygiene and food intake, you really cannot expect the results you gain from them to last beyond a point.

In fact, even when you go in for a laser treatment, your dentist will mention that the procedure might be needed to be repeated in a few months time.

Fortunately, you do not need to open up your coffers to the whims of the medical cabal just yet!

There are perfectly safe and natural methods too that are much more effective and produce lasting results.

For instance, crunchy foods such as those found in salads (cucumber, broccoli and celery) can help to braze away debris which has accumulated on your teeth and gums, and give them a gentle scrub at the same time.

While people suffering from bad teeth should also avoid foods that are rich in acids (since they can damage the enamel, certain items such as lemons and strawberries do have natural teeth whitening properties.

You can make a paste out of these add salt to it, and gently rub it on your teeth.

But make sure that you are washing it away soon enough so that their acidic content does not damage your teeth.

You should also eat lesser starchy, sticky food products such as bread, and whole wheat items such as pastas.

Sticky items obviously stick to your teeth and gums, and can cause a lot of dental problems.

There are many different fast teeth whitening techniques, many of which are fast and easy to use, you just need to know exactly what ingredients to mix and how to use these techniques.

There is good news …
